Due to increase of Mosquitoes in Klang, my appartment started to have lot of this pest. We tried various methods using spray can and electrical mosquito repellent. It does not work well. Then I went to a friend house seeing a small little gadget which supposely could kill mosquito. I was so interested and tried locate them from Tesco and Giant but fail.
This is a recently bought gadget from Carrefour, Subang.
It is not bad, as you can see the construction of this Mosquito Trap.
- Electric Grill
- UV Light - to lure the mosquitoes into the trap
- Suction Fan - Before the mosquito knows that it is a trap, it will be sucked into the grill.
This is the suction fan behind this machine.
operation under light condition
operation when there is no lights on
This little mosquito trap gadget only could catch mosquito when it is dark.
It fail catching anything at first. Then I tried putting it on higher ground (not on the floor) and I manage to catch some mosquitoes and some flying insects from time to time. Well done Khind! I think this is great.
It cost me RM59.90 and there is a smaller version which cost RM49.90.

I use four units around my house in PJ outdoors, and it does not catch mosquitoes, but a lot of moths and other flying insects. I then added a new experimental mosquito attractant called MMA from University Malaya and it is super effective.
I have cleared my garden [ 13,000 sq. ft.] of around four cups of mosquitoes over the last few months and biting incidences is very much reduced. I do not get bitten in the afternoon and the trap only catches mosquitoes at night.
I think the mosquitoes migrated to the neighboring houses when all the biting females in my garden were killed. Mosquitoes from the neighbourhood fly into my garden at night and that is when they get trapped. [ every night for the past few months ]
Well done University Malaya!
Hi Trapper, where can I get this MMA ?
Is this MMA sold in any store in Klang Valley?
i am interested to know about this mma too
UM is still testing the MMA. It should be available by year end and posted on the net eventually.
I will leave a post with photos soon.
The samples I received came in a gel form, in a disposable cup. You have to get a small aquarium air pump for Rgt 10 and blow air into the cup. The scent escapes from an outlet. You place this emitter beside the Traps, like above, outside your house, where it is dark and the rain will not wash out the trap and emitter.
The trap and emitter is then set with a plug-in-timer, which I bought from an electrical shop for rgt 16, The trapping time is set for 8.00 pm to 6.00 am, and you will catch mosquitoes every night.
My average trapping was around 80 mosquitoes a night in the initial months, but it is down to around 30 later. It has been raining heavily the past month and I catch around 15 nightly in the past few weeks. Each gel cup will last for 3 months plus.
It is amazing that there is a constant supply of mosquitoes, but it is a gratifying feeling when you see the mosquitoes sticking on the electric grill. I brush them out with a stiff paint brush.
Hi Fellows
There is one Mosquito Trap at Parkson which has additional attractants of Octenol and Lactic Acid and has proven to catch some 30 to 40 mosquitoes per night. . Distributor is EZZ MARKETING.
Referring to the ezz marketing trap. It is that effective?
Do you mean it can catch 30 to 40 mosquitoes per night when you use mma with additional attractants of octenol and lactic acid?
Is there any prove? Is there any test been done by any university or laboratory?
Interested to have if is proven. You know a lot in the market claim very effective but ended catching moths.
Please do tell us more of your experience of how you use it.
To Mary
EZZ trap is using Octenol and Lactic Acid. You can get the details from their website http://www.mostrap.com …………
Many of us are using it. It’s worth the try. For best results, you need to follow the instruction on how to put the trap.
I bought the MosTrap from a hardware shop in SS2 last week. Been using it in and outside of the house for nearly a week now. It does capture mosquitos, but not many, over the span of 5 days, there was only approx 10 mosquitos. But if we use the mosquito swat, we can actually kill approx 40-50 mosquito a night. So, i am quite dissappointed up to now, unless the device proves me wrong soon.
I really need help!!! Is there someone out there who can help me get rid of the mosquitos in my house????
Any news on the MMA thingy from UM to be made available in the market???
I desperately need help……
I suggest that you contact EZZ and ask them direct so that they can give you some instructions on how to use the trap effectively.
By the way guys, in actual fact, mosquitoes are not attracted by UV light but most other insects are. Also the type of UV tube also plays a large part in attracting insects. UVA is the best tube for this and as far as I know, most suppliers of UV traps in Malaysia does not use this type of tube including Khind.
i have got the trap website for Yoke Mei …. http://www.mosquito-free.com
Hi Foon,
I mentione earlier that Mos Trap (By EZZ Marketing) does capture mosquitos, but not many, over the span of 5 days, there was only approx 10 mosquitos. But if we use the mosquito swat, we can actually kill approx 40-50 mosquito a night. So, i am quite dissappointed up to now, unless the device proves me wrong soon.
Can someone from EZZ marketing do some explanation on their product?
