Malaysian ProBloggers Potential

Due to the nature of expensive point of entry to become a business entrepreneur, it is very hard for a fresh graduate or fresh work force to realise his ideas.

It is very encouraging for Malaysian to become blogger and try to earn a living. There are few factors which gives Malaysian an edge over other countries.

  • Cheap cost of living - Earning around USD600 to USD700 would be a normal monthly pay for a fresh graduate. After achiving this target, blog owner could actually quit his job and concentrate full time on blogging.
  • Literacy rate is high - Since we are multi-racial country, almost all younger generation would know at least 2 languages. English is commonly used in writings and communications. Therefore, writing article in English could easily be understand by anyone worldwide.
  • Broadband is available - I would say that our broadband is cheap, but would not say that we get what we pay for. RM66 (USD19.42)/month for a 512mbps, is definately not a reasonable amount worldwide, but the amount is quite affordable for our cost of living. It is an important factor as it is very encouraging for blogger to have fast internet connection to surf around for informations and updates.

As posted earlier, a normal blog would just need USD90.40/year and with hosting promotion ($10/yr for hosting + 2 domains), you may even get USD80.40 for promoting your blog.

I would hope to see that government open up their mind and let bloggers grow. Come to think about it, bloggers actually benefit the countries as we are earning foreign income and spending them in Malaysia. I would definately love to see more and more Malaysian bloggers who are able to benefit from this.

Very true, your observation. For the same price they pay for US or UK bloggers, they wouldn’t be able to the kind of standard they get from say India or Malaysia.
