This is one odd news.
From SFGate: Peter Wiggins, of I.M. Chait gallery, puts the ancient fossilized walrus penis on display in Beverly Hills on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007. The gallery sold the ancient fossilized walrus penis during their natural history auction Sunday. Associated Press photo by Kevork Djansezian.
A walrus is pretty big if you compare the picture below, but what I did not know is that they have such a long penis.

wow thts really a big penis compared to its body. it prob had a seklet compartment to keep its penis. but, who would want to buy a walrus penis? make into soup like bull penis? i really wonder.

The bacculum in that pic is not from a walrus, but a whale. Typical walrus bacculi will range from 20-30 inches on average. The one you see in the pic is from a MUCH larger animal. Also, I have a very hard time seeing a walrus bacculi go for $8000 when you can buy them off the net for $250-$800 depending upon condition. The known term for the walrus baculim is called an “Oosik” Many truck drivers of the northern territories have them to use as “tire thumpers and billy clubs” in their trucks.
