Malaysia Ban Shark Fin Soup

Malaysia is going to ban shark fin soup to support the environmentalist in preserving the endangered Sharks.

This means no Shark Fin’s soup in wedding dinner? No more “Yu Chi” (shark’s fin in cantonese). I would expect the cost of wedding to go down by RM100 per table then, if you were to take this off your menu. Wonder what soup will they replace for this dish.

It is said that official cermony will not include shark fin dishes but not sure if restaurant will still be serving it or allow customer to order them. Maybe to clear out the stocks.

It was first read in Kompas, an Indonesia Newspaper. I reconfirm them by finding it at AP via MSN.

i think there must be some ways to substitute the fin in the soup; same recipe only minus the fin.
