Lousy Service at Sheraton Subang

Sometimes I just can’t stand how the Malaysian company survive with those lousy service that they provide. Tonight I attended a wedding dinner at Sheraton Subang, a so-called 5 star hotel wedding dinner.

What I could recommend others is that do not have your wedding there as your guest will definitely have a memorable moment of lousy services. Here is the occasions I have faced in just one night:-

  1. Workers is immigrant workers, and I do not seems to see any managers working.
  2. They are not even trained, there is this worker who pour the tea for our table, but the tea was flowing slowly due to some cap on the bottle. The worker just decided to flip the cap when he was pouring the tea. The result: a pretty big spill (wonder where was he trained? And guess what, he just walk, when a person sitting at my table questioned him, he walked away. Without any apology or anything, but just leave and another worker served us.
  3. We had our shark fin soup like any other Chinese wedding.  It was brought to our table with the bowl+cover and another plate of shark fin. It was never served! One person on our table decided to serve ourselves after like 10 to 15 minutes wait. Half way serving, a waiter saw us doing that, but he was watching until the guest on our table asked the waiter to do his job. Guess what? He filled the first bowl of shark fin, with as much soup as the bowl could take. The next bowl, he had some soup spilled on his fingers while his finger is covering the tip of the bowl. Soup was passing his fingers and filling into the bowl. Yuck! And our guest on the table decide to take the matter into his own hand and finish up the job. (No training and No common sense waiter).
  4. This is one of my best experience, when everything is over, we had to actually get stamping to get a flat rate of RM5. I though all hotels had do a flat rate parking for cars after 6pm. Plus Sheraton Subang have a separate parking for the ballroom and hotels. I could accept this. But when I was asked to pay RM13, I told him that I had the wedding card with me, but he insisted and another worker was sitting at the parking ticket booth replied me back in a rude matter. I scold him, as the parking was long and it is very obvious that everyone leaving at that time was from the wedding. Guess what? Parking was lining up for some time, I had to park my car at the roadside, walk to the ballroom to get my stamp and walk back. The extra person at the parking ticket booth who was rude was suppose to be working. After doing all those and seeing the line about 15mins long, he decided to open his booth and only allow other car. (Sheraton, please do not save money on camera to check on your worker, they are practically useless and lazy).

Everything else was quite bad as I though that 5 star hotel wedding should be 1 table to 1 waiter. This was what I had deal on my wedding at Westin. This is more like 3 table to 1 water, but I am not sure about the wedding package, it may be cheaper. But even Chinese restaurant wedding had better service than this I would say.
I am sorry that I had to vent my anger on this post as this is a process hoping that the service provided by the Malaysian would improve. Moreover, this is visit Malaysia year, how could a 5 star hotel provide such a service. I do not blame you on hiring immigrant, but at least have some educated people managing them or train them well. You are operating on a 5 star hotel image for Malaysia.

I have been to hotel wedding dinners before….. and yeah….. the waiter and waitress are not experience, food not really good, and the parking is darn expensive……

The most effective way is for the host to complain to the hotel directly. This cannot be tolerated at a 5 star place.
