.Asia Domain

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Or you could get Wahlau.NET daily post through your email. Thanks for visiting!

.Asia is currently selling its pioneer domains program. Pioneer Domains Programs started 11th July until 31st August, 2007.

It is a good opportunity to submit a proposal for http://yourdomain.asia. Although I am not sure how much it would cost for .asia domain for a year, I am pretty sure it is higher compare to the saturated .com.

Here is what the Pioneer domains Programs is all about:-

Applicants will be invited to submit a brief proposal for the domain of their choice. The quality of ideas for utilizing the domain name will be the basis of the allocation of the domain. The best proposal wins the right to operate the best .Asia domains.

PDP currently have 3 different categories:-

  1. Community Pioneers - This is where you have your proposal for the best .Asia
  2. Global Brand Pioneers - This is for businesses who have trademarks and business to preserve. Preventing domain squatters.
  3. Partner Pioneers -  it is primary for accredited registrars to promote and sell .asia

For more information, you could get them at http://www.dotasia.org.

Adsense for Indonesia Website

I did not know that Indonesian website could not have adsense previously. Anyone know? I was just reading my feed bookmark and saw Selamat Datang from Inside Adsense.

Anyway it would be a new market since Indonesia have such a huge population, they could end up having more Indonesian firm advertising.

Here is the post

More problem to Malaysia Cinema

Previously you could see that Malaysia Cinema Operator uses Night Vision Goggle to catch people recording their movies. But they have more trouble coming up, it is Vasstek Wearable TravelCAM.

Vasstek’s TravelCAM is a 1.3mp battery powered camcorder that records to flash memory. This TravelCAM has a 20 hours capacity at 1280 x 1024 resolution. Video formats are AVI and JPG with minimal controls of pause /play buttons to control the video.

Look at the size and the look of it. It just look like any mp3 or handphone set. It would be hard for the operator to detect even when using a night vision goggle.

It is lucky that they do not have zoom on this as they are trying to maintain the battery life of this TravelCAM.

Anyway, I was at Transformer in KLCC last night. Guess what? they actually do not allow us to bring in our handphones, mp3 players and usb thumb drive ?? We will store our phone in an envelope and given a resit with a numbering system. We will retrieve the phone after the movie. It is quite troublesome as phone have to be switch off, and the line after the movie finished is quite long.

Apple Facelift

Although I don’t really visit Apple website often, I have noticed that they have done huge change on their design. Seems like they are going for Web 2.0 too, although previous website design looks cool too. They have kept the old design for a very long period of time, browsing through archive.org shows the same design since year 2000.

Year 2000

Notice on the mac section there is a scroll bar for Mac Pro, Mac Mini, Mac Book, iMac etc. I think it is AJAX (correct me if I am wrong).

Software piracy

Pirated software cost the industry US $39.6 bilion last year. Guess who which country top the chart ?

Azerbaijan, what? Azerbaijan yes, Azerbaijan! Then comes Iceland, Oman. Last on the chart is Indonesia.

Just shock to see such a weird country topping the chart. Microsoft should definately go there for some hunting.
